Dr. Ben Placek
Computational Astrophysicist
Dr. Placek is an experienced computational astrophysicist who obtained his Ph.D. at the State University of New York at Albany. His research focuses on the application of Bayesian inference to the characterization of extrasolar planets, and he has published over a dozen papers on the subject in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
At the heart of Bayesian inference is Occam’s razor — the idea that given a set of possible solutions to a problem — the simplest is always preferred. More complex solutions should only be considered when necessitated by the data. Dr. Placek adopts this philosophy for any scientific study he participates in and is excited to bring it with him to the UAPx team.
